Relaxing Trips

Do you ever take weekend day trips with the family?  We decided to drive to a state park to go hiking and have a picnic.  Dreams of laughter, fun, and relaxation swirled through my head!  But, they were merely dreams.  Reality is always different.

  1. my hubby and I wanna get like a sound/break proof glass between us and the kids, but guess that’s never gonna happen! xxx

LOL!! We *also* had this dream of the state park this weekend, to see them tapping and boiling sap to make maple syrup. I wayyyy overpacked for the hour-and-a-half trip — snacks, games, toys, ipad, etc. We got there and it was COLD. Snow everywhere. Picnic tables covered in snow. Demonstrations weren’t really going because it was too cold. We went into the little warming hut and they were serving ice cream topped with maple syrup. So I guess you could say the day was a success.

Funny we both did this on the same weekend, heading to the park! : )

  3. I am convinced that the phrase “relaxing trip” becomes an oxymoron once kids are involved.

So ironic that you’d post this today – we are leaving to go to a state park in about 30 minutes! Looking forward to “relaxing”. LOL! 😉

  5. They always start out ok for us, but if it’s a long trip it’s no longer relaxing after awhile!

  6. Ours are never relaxing! We went for one yesterday and when we came back home we were exhausted and we only have 1 son! can’t imagine how parents of 2 and up do it! 😉

  7. We travel for a living, and my kids have learned to cope well 🙂 until they learned though….it was tough!

we go on small trips all through the spring and summer. 45mins-2 or 3 hour rides. the kids do really great for the most part!

  9. I usually end up shrieking at some point “How can you take a perfectly good day and ruin it so completely!?!?!”
I’m sure they’ll find a way to deal with it when it all comes out in therapy in 15 years or so…

We got a set of tv screens that play dvds and hook to the back of our seats. This has made our drives like heaven! My husband and I can talk and actually hear each other. Thanks to NickJr!
