Conversations

Do you ever have days where you just want to get away from your children and be an adult?  My husband and I rarely get to go out on our own, so when we plan a date I always look forward to them.  The trouble is, when we finally go on our date, we only seem to talk about one thing – the kids that we wanted to get away from!

  1. All we do is talk about Jacob!! Half way through dinner one of us will remind the other that we’re on the “Jacob topic” again haha! I’ll ask Andrew about work to open a new subject. Or we’ll bring up past pre-baby vacations, which leads to more conversation. It’s tough though! It usually leads back to Jacob at some point. Oh well. At least we can chat without one of us holding a squirmy baby, or feeding him, right?

    Haha, yep! You’re not alone…

    Every single time!

  4. Skye says:

Oh, I can so relate! My husband is worse than me..he calls home to check in at least three times everytime we go out!

  5. I find it funny that if we do talk about something other than the kids, we often stop mid-sentence, completely forgetting what we were going to say because we’re not used to having a complete conversation without 3 kids interrupting! haha!

  6. Never mind conversation…we’re so happy to enjoy an uninterrupted HOT meal that we don’t even need to talk! (But yes, when we do it’s usually about the kids. Sigh.)

  7. YES! We rarely go out without the girls but when we do it is almost like we don’t know what to do with ourselves haha!… everything is just so quiet and a lack of crazy that is other worldly… I feel like we have forgotten what we used to talk about BEFORE we had children

  8. Only all the time! it’s ridiculous; how sometimes we plan a nice dinner, we are exhausted and happy but at the table we only talk about our baby! 🙂 ha!ha! I guess we are all the same! & I keep calling my mother to ask about him at least twice before we start our dinner 🙂

  9. We’ll actually do a “ok, no more talking about the kids now” dates. Cause, yeah. Otherwise…

  10. Yes. We have other things we talk about as well, but it always comes back to the kids. We only get out alone maybe two or three times a year!
