Starting to Jog

Well, folks – I started to jog a few weeks ago.  I am not a natural runner.  I feel like a hippopotamus in sneakers.  I am very slow.  In fact, I often wonder if I could walk faster than I jog…

Nope, I power walk. 😉 I have tried jogging, but my hips don’t handle it. :/ My sister is the same way so maybe we inherited weak hips? lol Idk, but I love my walking/kicking/side-stepping!! Don’t feel bad that your “slow”, it takes taime to improve on anything!! xx

  2. I am just not a runner. I have never experienced runner’s high. I’ve tried it, I just don’t like it. I love walking and biking. Today according to the Weather Channel it felt like 28 below zero (it was so cold our little digital thermometer we use to see our outside temp quit working!). I think I’ll stay inside today!

  3. Something like that happened to me when I was on a bike… Granted, it was a cargo bike and I had 140 lbs of kids in it, but getting lapped by a granny hurts…

I totally feel you. I guess I can say I use to be a Wanna-Be-Runner. But after running my first half marathon last October…I guess I am a “runner”, lol but a slow runner at that. So in other-words I don’t exactly run, I jog 🙂 When I was training I jogged at 15min a mile (like molasses) and then once race day came it took me 4hrs to complete 13.1 miles. It was the toughest and longest run I ever have done in my life, Baltimore hills are no joke. But proud to say that, I cross the line. So really it’s not about timing or how fast you can go, its about completion and getting in the run in.

I definitely walk faster than I jog. Jogging kind of hurts my knees after a few…steps. You go girl!!!

  6. I am by no means fast BUT the more you do it, the faster you will become. When I first started running(jogging) I could finish a 5K in about 32-33 minutes. After several months, I was down to about 28 minutes so you do improve. Of course, now I am back at my starting point but I will keep on keeping on. You know what they say: You may be slow but you are passing everyone on the couch!!!

I LOVE that saying! I am going to say that to myself tomorrow when I jog! I would love to do a 5K in 32 minutes. Right now I go about 12 minutes per mile which is really sad!

  7. 🙂 hi!hi! love your drawing 🙂 I’m glad you started this , exercise is so good for your health, I would love to start exercising again but don’t have any discipline anymore and I’m too exhausted 🙂 (I used to be a runner, used to run 5K’s everyday, used to go to the mountain and run uphill until I damaged my knee and was told I had to stop. But glad you are jogging you will see the benefits very soon and you will jog faster than you walk ! 😉
